The Downtown skyline seems to be ever-changing as Atlanta continues to develop and grow in leaps and bounds. This high-rise section of the city, situated between Downtown and Buckhead, is called Midtown Atlanta. The headquarter buildings of such major utility and telecommunications companies as IBM and BellSouth also dominate the Midtown area skyline.
Midtown is home to a diverse range of natives, from mansion owners to youthful bar and club hoppers. 189-acre Piedmont Park, the city's largest expanse of greenery, is undoubtedly the main gathering point in Midtown Atlanta. Piedmont Park stages summer concerts and events such as Screen on the Green and Georgia Shakespeare Festival, which are a hit with Atlanta college students. It also houses Atlanta's beautiful botanical gardens.
One of Midtown’s best-known assets is its high concentration of cultural resources, including the High Museum of Art, the Fox Theatre, and the Woodruff Arts Center, where the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra plays. Others include its fantastic array of restaurants and awesome warehouse shopping deals.

Much of Midtown Atlanta is in the process of being remodeled. Some older buildings are being refurbished while others, mainly defunct warehouses, are being demolished to make room for more residences and office buildings.
As Midtown continues to change, it is developing a growing reputation for upscale nightlife options. Students attending an Atlanta college will no doubt find tons to do in-between study sessions. With all of the exciting advantages the midtown area has to offer, residents have even begun to build houses and develop a loft district.
Midtown Atlanta is easy to access via the MARTA Rail, with stops at Midtown Station N4 on the North bound line heading to Doraville or North Springs. There are also Midtown MARTA Rail stations at Civic Center Station N2, North Avenue Station N3 and Arts Center Station N5.
East Atlanta is just coming out of a period of decline. It's current collection of shops and restaurants are expanding out to the intersection of Flat Shoals and Glenwood Avenues. Shopping choices in East Atlanta, although somewhat limited in number, prove a unique and eclectic mix. The local bars in East Atlanta cater to its blue-collar population.
